Student wins Carlisle Come Dine With Me TV show

A Carlisle student won last night’s episode of cookery show Come Dine With Me.

Viewers of the hit Channel 4 show saw Helen Speakman, a complementary therapy student, beat cake maker Deborah Nixon, DIY devotee Nigel Hawes and boy band drummer Andy Bainbridge.

Helen, who went to Nelson Thomlinson School in Wigton, set herself a challenge with multiple courses in an oriental theme and was determined to cook everything from scratch.

Filming took place in August and the programme was aired last night.

Have your say

Nigel says that he can't cook to save his life.

Bit of a strange choice to go on what is primarily a cooking show if you can't cook.

This kind of program is deliberately edited and arranged to suite the producers, if they want to make someone look and sound dull, nasty, boring etc they'll easily do it. Its the old saying 'why let the truth get in the way of a good story'
